Thanks-given
This year we spent Thanksgiving at my parents house here in Nampa. It was a great day - lots of family, lots of great food, and TONS of pie!

Venturing About
Sage loves to take adventures around Grandma and Grandpas house. Here is one of her favorites.
Sleep. Who needs sleep?
So, Sage can now stand herself up and cruise around the furniture and the walls. Being able to do this also means that she can stand up in her crib. And when you can stand up in your crib, and jump up and down, and have a good old time - why should you sleep?
This was a HUGE problem for a couple of weeks. We would put her down, and then hear her in there doing laps around the crib, and laughing and playing. It was cute at first, but then I got worried that she would never take a nap again. Luckily she got over that, and now she just fusses to be let out of her new-found prison.
I finally just had to realize that if I left her in there and let her cry long enough, she would finally sit herself down, and go to sleep. So.....this is how i found her one day= Propped up agains the bumper, with her face in a blanket. Don't worry - she was breathing just fine.
Luckily we are pretty much past this now and she is back to sleeping well!

Burning Down the House
this is my pillow. my pillow with a big burn spot on it! yes, aparently i tried to set the bed on fire - while Sage and I were sitting on it. it was early - sage was hungry - i was tired and thought that if i fed her on my bed, then she would fall asleep, i could lay her down next to me, and we could take a little nap together. so....i stacked up some pillows behind me and didn't notice that the lamp next to my bed (jim's old desk lamp from college) happened to be touching my pillow. a few minutes later i smelled something funny, turned my head, saw smoke, and started frieking out! i threw (well not really threw) sage onto the middle of the bed, grabbed the pillow that was nearly in flames, and ran to the bathroom to extinguish the almost-flames. needless to say, disaster was averted and we are alive to talk about it. now i have to sleep on a lumpy old pillow. i HATE lumpy old pillows!
Flower Girl
Here I am - posting at work again, so all I have is pics from my phone. So...they aren't that good. Here my little Sagey is, standing up all by herself! Just kidding, she's actually leaning against the couch. (Oh, and don't mind the laundry on the couch.)
This was Saturday and our daddy was at work, so we were just hangin out at home. I was trying to do my wifely duties and clean things up a bit, but I find that increasinly hard with this little girley around. I'm getting better at it though.

I'm a slacker....
There are so many things I need to blog about, but it seems to be the last thing that I want to do when I get home at night. So, I'll try and write a little while I'm here at work.
Jim started a new job the middle of September. He is working at the new Winco Distribution Center in Boise where he pulls orders for the stores. I don't think he loves it, but its a job and we are very greatful for it! The pay isn't great, but the benefits totally rock, so we are excited about it. We are trying to adjust to a new schedule, the hardest part is taking Sage to a babysitter. Luckily it is either to Grandma & Grandpa Munsons house, or to Aunt Julie or Jennifers house. I hate that she has to go to a babysitter, but it makes it a little easier knowing that she is with family. The worst part about the whole thing is having to get up even earlier in order to get her ready, the car all packed up, and then drop her off. Jim usually picks her up when he gets off and they get to go home and hang out for a couple of hours before I get home.
Sage is growing like a weed and doing new things every week it seems like. She is crawling - well more like dragging/scooting all over the house. She can come and find us now, which is kind of fun. It's good motivation to keep the floors clean! I just don't like the fact that she can get into stuff.
She now has one of her top teeth, and the other one is making it's way down. She looks like a totally different kid with those teeth! I can't imagine what she will look like when she gets hair. Speaking of hair, there is still VERY little of it. I've got to start putting more headband on her I guess.
She talks up a storm some times, and when she's upset and fussing a little I swear she says mama. I love it, however I am a sucker for it, so I always give into her when she says it. I've got to work on that.
She is very interested in the world around her. At church she will just sit and watch people - especially the deacons when they are passing the sacrament. We had our first time at church without dad yesterday since he had to work. She was really good, but I was tired by the time three hours had passed!
She's eating lots of (baby)food now. She also likes cheese, ice cream, and cake! Those are three of my favorite, so I'm sure she got it from me. Actually, those are probably three of the things I ate most while I was pregnant with her, so she's probably made up of those three things plus bean burritos from Taco Bell.
Wish I had a picture to post, but they are all at home on our computer. Oh, and I haven't really taken many lately. I'm slacking on my picture taking - better do something about that!

A+ Fair Corn Dogs!
Wow, lots of you must be hankering for a good corn dog! So here's the link for the recipe:
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/A-Plus-Fair-Corn-Dogs/Detail.aspx
A few notes about this receipe
-You will notice that it has a nifty device that allows you to choose how many servings you want to make. We have found that the recipe for 6 servings will make 5 corn dogs.
-It calls for bacon drippings (ick!) - we substitute honey in place of the drippings.
-It calls for buttermilk, but who has buttermilk just "chillin" in the fridge? I just "make it" by adding some vinegar to regular milk.
-Roll your hot dog in flour before dipping it in the batter - it helps the batter stick to the dog!
-Pour your batter into a glass, and then dip your dogs in the glass.
-For the sticks, we just cut some shishkabob skewers in half that we happened to have in the pantry. They work great!
-We are usually Ball Park people, but we've found that Oscar Meyer is better for these. Plus, I think Pronto Pup uses Oscar Meyer. Oh, and stay away from bun length - they are toooooo long :)
Let me know how your corn dog experiences go, and any tips you may find to make them even better. ENJOY! YUM YUM!

Corn Doggy-Dogs!
A few weeks ago Jim was wanting corn dogs, so he got online and found a recipe that was so good! They almost taste like Pronto Pups (our local corn dog place!) We've made them two more times since that day. Don't they look yummy????
Drive on in.....
Hmm, so this was clear back on August 15th! I know, I know....I'm really behind.
Sage, Jim, and I went to a drive in movie. This was Sage and I's first drive in movie ever! I have to admit that it was not the best idea to take a 6 1/2 month old baby to the drive in movie, but now we know!
Mom and Sage waiting for the show to start - all settled into our "truck-bed" bed.
I think she likes it!
Sage just LOVES ice cream. Of course she does - why wouldn't she? We went to DQ last night for an ice cream cone, and decided to let her have a bite, or two, or ten. It was pretty funny!

Puddle-O-Poop!!
We were at Wal-mart a couple of weekends ago doing our weekly shopping. Sage was being a very good girl, like she always is. I had walked away from the cart to get something down the isle, and when I came back to the cart.....
Jim: "We gotta go!"
Katie "What?"
Jim: "WE GOTTA GO!"
Katie: "Why?"
Jim: "Look!"
Katie: "OH!! Uh, oh!! What the heck?"
Jim: "I don't know....I heard a noise and when I looked down...there it was, flowing like lava out of her diaper (onto her cute white shorts, none the less!!!)"
Katie:"Hmm, what should we do?"
Luckily we were almost done shopping. I contemplated taking her into the bathroom to try and remedy the situation, but then decided against it as I watched the puddle continue to grow. The only remedy to this situation was to stip her down and bathe her!! So I took her out to the car, and Jim checked out, then we raced home for a bath! Needless to say, I had to take the whole car seat apart and wash everything. I guess I'm just glad of two things - 1)She was in her car seat, so it was contained, and 2) we weren't at church!
Wow, that was fun!
Can you say: "PUDDLE-O-POOP?"

Could it be?
She's six months already? It doesn't seem possible! But they have been six wonderful months! I just wish they would slow down! She's getting so big and acting so grown up. I feel like it flew by and we missed it all. I do have to say that she gets more and more fun as the days go by since she can actually interact now.
This last month brought lots of new things for Sage. Two bottom teeth, sitting up, playing peek-a-boo, and rolling from her tummy to her back! It also brought a few more pounds and little bit more hair :) She had her six month check up yesterday and here is what they said:
Weight: 18.05 pounds
Length: 27.75 inches
Head: 17 inches

The 4th of July!

Her First Concert
Every summer Boise has this outdoor concert series downtown on Wednesday nights called Alive After Five. Yes, there is music, but mostly there is booze! So, we don't usually go, but this particular week there was a nice little group playing called Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band. You may have heard of them - they are some nice Mormon boys from Utah :) So we thought we would go and check them out.
I'm sure that Sage didn't really care about the music, or where she was, but she seemed to have a good time. She even took a nap amid all of the noise! One thing I have to say about drunk people is....they are funny....usually! We saw quite the sights!

Calf Creek Falls
This was the last major outing of our trip. It was Jim & Sage's first trip to Calf Creek Falls, but hopefully not their last! The trip started off not so great - when we got to the parking lot we found that Sage had blown out her pants. So...we had to resort to the back-up outfit which happened to be long sleeved pajamas. Not ideal for the climate/situation, but they would have to make due until her outfit dried. She did okay most of the way up, fell asleep after awhile. But the last half mile or so she cried. I couldn't take it after a few minutes, so I ended up carrying her. We ate lunch there, Sage took a little snooze, and we all played in the water a bit (but it was just as cold as I remembered it being.) Jim was the only one that managed to get ALL the way in. On the way out Sage was NOT a happy camper. She did sleep for a little while, but once she woke up it was a ball-fest!!! She cried, and cried, and cried, and cried! I think people thought we were being negligent parents, but I don't THINK there was anything wrong with her. She was just done with being in that backpack. It was a long trip back, but we finally made it out. We hope to do it again some day. When Sage can walk :)
Sage's First Trick!
Jim's brother did this with his kids, so I thought Jim should try it with Sage, and.....
...she can do it! Ta-da!!

Bryce Canyon
Bryce Canyon was our third day on vacation....I think. And, it was Sage's first official hike. First of all we drove out to the end of the main road, and then did stops along the way back. Jim had never been there before, so he would get out and take pictures, and I mostly stayed in the car with Sage. We chose a fairly short hike, but it lost and gained a lot of elevation so we went down, down, down, and then up, up, up. She did pretty dang good. Was so comfortable that she fell asleep. It got quite cold by the time we got up out of the canyon. The wind was really whipping. We were glad to get back to the car and on our way back to Escalante.
Our little hiker.
