Big Blue Belly

First of all, forget the ridiculous look on my face - please! Whatever she said to me, I must have thought it was pretty funny. But here is my big blue BSU belly. Why the lovely blue shirt you ask? We had a "blue and orange" day in honor of the Boise State University football team playing in the Poinsettia Bowl that day. Too bad they lost by one stinkin point! The other girl in the picture is also pregnant, but obviously not that pregnant. She barely has any belly!

You know your baby-belly is getting big when....

....the greeter at Wal-mart asks you if you're having a Christmas baby? Uh, nope, sorry buddy....more like a Valentines baby! But thanks for asking :)

Our Christmas Card to You!

Please consider this your Christmas card. I'm sorry to say that I have not sent one Christmas card out this year, which is so strange for me. I love Christmas cards - and thanks to all those that have sent them to us - and I haven't missed out on sending them for many years. But this year - I just don't have it in me. SORRY!! We don't even have a Christmas tree this year....how sad is that? I was a little bummed about it at first, but the more I think about it, I think it was a good decision - I don't think I'll really feel like taking it down with only about 5 weeks left in my pregnancy. I put up all my other decorations though, so i'm not a total Scrooge :)

So from Jim and I -
You are all in our thoughts and prayers and
WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We hope that the new year will find you all healthy and happy, and that our Heavenly Father will bless you with all that you stand in need of. We are so grateful for the gospel in our lives - we would be lost without it. We are especially grateful this year for the long awaited blessing of a child in our lives. We thank you for all your well wishes and prayers on our behalf. We are especially mindful of and thankful for our special friends and family at this time of year. We love you all!
P.S. Hope Santa finds you all :)

What will she look like?

Yesterday in church, Jim and I were looking at babies and wondering if our baby would be cute or not. Of course, we will think shes cute, but will other people? Really? And don't tell me that you didn't have this conversation with your spouse before your kids were born. I know you did. So, I dug up the youngest pictures of us that I could find. My verdict - she ought to be pretty dang cute! Two things I do know she's bound to have......big eyebrows, and long eyelashes. We've both been cursed with big bushy eyebrows, and blessed with long eyelashes.
I do hope she gets her daddy's blue eyes, my hands, his ankles (he, he - mine are big even when I'm not pregnant), my hair, his strength, and sorry honey......but my disposition :)
But, whatever she is, or whatever she gets, she'll be wonderful and we'll love her to bits!

A Little Winter Pregnancy Humor for you :)

Oh My Goodness!

Hello People -
May I direct your attention to my baby counter over on the right hand side of the page....Do you see that it is less than 60 days?? That's less than two months!
That means that in less than two months we will have a baby - OH MY GOODNESS, I'm totally freiked out! But very excited! Scared out of my head! But thrilled to death! WOW!

McCall

This last weekend we took our annual trip to McCall, Idaho. This year we took two couples with us, both friends from our ward and families that Jim home teaches. We had a great time, and it was so fun to get out of town. We always stay at our "time share", but this year to make it even better, we got the Presidential Suite. It was so nice - granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, hard wood floors, flat screen tv's in every bedroom, and our own private hot top on the deck. However, we started out with one little glitch. Something had happened with the dishwasher and it had overheated and started melting parts of the dishwasher. The place smelled so bad! and to make it worse, they didn't have a spare so we had to wash by hand all weekend. Luckily we ate most meals out, so there weren't too many dishes.
In spite of the dishes, it was a fun weekend. We played games, shopped, watched a movie, did some sight-seeing, and ATE TONS OF GREAT FOOD! What more could you ask for?

Birthing Class/Diabetic for a Day

Wow, so I'm really behind again. We actually took our birthing class a few weeks ago and I've been meaning to post about it, but you know.....
Jim wasn't too excited about doing it - didn't want to spend his whole Saturday at the hospital listening to some nurse talking about child birth. But....he knew it was important to me, so he endured. He made it through by "taking naps" during the videos in order to avoid looking at other ladies hoo-hah's.
It was quite informative and helped me make my decision to have the baby at a birthing center, rather than the hospital. The biggest difference between the two is that at the birthing center, you don't have the option for drugs. If you decide you want them once you have checked in, then you have to pack up and head across the street to the hospital. Also, you have your own "master suite" there and they are beautiful. You get your own jacuzzi tub (to labor in, not deliver in...unless you want to,) a personal nurse, your doctor, a kitchen, etc. It's almost like being at home. So, as long as the rest of the pregnancy goes well, I'll be doing it at the birthing center!

As for being "Diabetic for a Day." I had my one hour glucose test two Thursdays ago, but then got the call on Monday that I was three points above what I was supposed to be, so they had set me up for the three hour glucose test the next morning at 8:00. At this point I was freiking out thinking I was going to be diabetic for the rest of my pregnancy, and would have to change my eating habits, and maybe take insulin, etc...It was not a good evening for me, to say the least. I had to fast - which is not fun when you are NOT pregnant, but even more fun when you ARE pregnant! If any of you have had the test, you know it involves a lot of blood being sucked out of your body. In three and half hours, I got stuck five different times. Good think I don't mind needles!
Luckily - my test results came back good, and I am happy to say that I was only diabetic for a day - or so I thought!

He bakes, he builds, what doesn't he do?

I've been bugging Jim to build me some shelves in the garage for a few years now. I guess he finally figured that having a baby and needing more room was finally a good enough reason to actually do it. So....I have some new shelves in my garage, and I love them! I am so grateful to him for doing it, but even more grateful that he is such a "handi-man" in so many ways.

His Bread, My Belly, and Her Hat

Thought you might like to see my BELLY!

Here's a little hat I made for Baby Girl. What do ya think?

Fat Feet

*** If you don't like feet, you should not read or look at this post. ***

Someone...who will remain nameless...wanted to see my fat feet. I don't know why, but since I find it all kind of comical, I will share.
First just let me say that it is not easy to take pictures of your own feet. You can't set them on the table and take pictures of them from various angles. Maybe if you weren't pregnant you could kind of do that, but a big belly kind of gets in the way of that.
Second, please don't look at my toenail paint job. I did it last night, and it is bad! Another draw back of being pregnant. By the time I got done, I was too worn out to go back and touch them up, so they don't look so hot.
Now let me say that this is a good "feet" day for me....they aren't too huge. However, this has become the norm. It used to be that when I got up in the morning they were back to normal and would remain that way for an hour of two. Now when I get up, they pretty much look like this and they just get bigger as the day goes on. If you look closely, you can see the imprints from my flip-flops. And if you look on the insides of my feet....you know, where that ankle bone thing should be poking out, there is blob of flub.
Please don't think I am complaining. Someone reminded me about a month ago that I have been waiting and praying a long time for this baby, so i shouldn't complain - so I'm not. I'm just expressing my feelings :)

So......Enjoy me feet - I certainly am :)

Our First Major Purchase is......

...a "travel system," or what most people would call a car seat & stroller. We finally decided it was time to get busy buying some stuff, so when we got a 15% off coupon in the mail from babies-r-us it was good motivation. I know, I know, you are probably thinking "brown and orange, how NOT girly" but these were the colors we could agree on. Let me just say right now that this is not going to be a "PINK" girl. Maybe it's better that way....last night I dreamed "she" came out as a "he" with really long fingernails :) What do you suppose that means?

We've also been buying diapers for a few months - here is our stash so far:

Catch-up...

Remember when we took a trip to California - over a month ago?!? Well, here are the rest of the pictures.

Columbia State Park

This was an old mining town, and we loved it. You should go there - especially is you have kids! They would love it.

San Francisco

Most of these are pictures from our cruise over and back to Alcatraz.

Hello...

Hmmm.....so it's been a long time since I said anything. It doesn't seem like I really have anything to say, but I'll come up with something.
Oh, I know...on conference weekend we went to the cabin with Jim's family to help his sisters get wood. Saturday morning we were laying in bed and the baby was doing her usual move around thing (not that I can really tell much, I can just tell that she's in there moving around.) Well, she was particularly (sp?) active that morning and she was kicking so I grabbed Jim's hand and put it on my belly. He got to feel it 2 or 3 times, and I think he was pretty excited. That was cool.
As for new pregnancy symptoms, I don't think there are any. My feet continue to swell for a day or two, and then they are fine for a day or two. Can't seem to figure out what triggers it.
Lets see.....oh, we started our registry. That was fun, but it made me realize how much we need and how much we don't have. And most of it is the big expensive stuff that someone else isn't going to buy for you. We'll just take it one piece at a time I guess.
Yesterday I bought my first baby clothes!! That was fun. They just seem so small, it doesn't seem like she will fit in them. I don't know, hopefully I'm not wishing a big baby on myself! While I was standing in line waiting to check out I got a little teary eyes thinking about the fact that we are having a baby!! It was kind of an ah-ha moment.
Well, wasn't this a random bit of rambling?!?!

It's a.........GIRL!

OK, the doctor confirmed it, it is a GIRL! I am so excited. I'm not sure how Jim' REALLY feels about it, but he is happy too! For some reason I have just know that it was going to be a girl, so I wasn't really surprised when she said it was a girl. She also said that everything looks good, and that this is a BIG baby. I'm not sure how to take that, I guess it's better than a litle baby.
It's strange to think of it as a "she" now instead of an "it." It's kind of scary. I'm starting to realize that I know nothing about being a mommy. People keep telling me I'll figure it all out....hope so!
We went to get some groceries last night at Wal-mart and Jim said "now you can buy something pink" so I looked at all those cute girl things and couldn't decide. I didn't end up buying anything. How unlike me, to pass up spending money :)
Now we can start "really" talking about names (I'm open to suggestions byt he way), and deciding on the nursery and all that fun stuff.
Last night I made about 50 sugar cookies for us to both take to work. They were decorated with pink frosting and sprinkles. It was fun to see everyones reaction when they found out it was a girl.

Big Feet!

My newest pregnancy sympton......big old, gigantic, disgusting, creepy, swollen up feet. Not a fan!

Thursday, September 18, 2008

Oh....And I want to know....

....who is it that voted for a boy on my poll??? You are in trouble! This baby is a girl, so you better start thinking that way!!!

No Internet Service!

Hi, so I wanted to post about San Francisco, but I was too tired when we got back that night, and now we are at a resort where our broadband card doesn't work, so.....I'm just writing this little blurb on the resort computers. 20 minute time limit, so I can't say much. But I'm hoping when we get on the road home tomorrow, I can do some.
The trip getting to SF was kind of a nightmare, as was the streetcar ride to Alcatraz, but it got better after that. We were very tired that night!
The next day we headed out to our next resort at Angels Camp, which is where we are now. On our way here, we stopped at an outlet mall and I must admit that I bought lots of maternity clothes. They are kinda too big, but my regular clothes are getting SO uncomfortable. Some of it's really cute, so I'm excited to wear it.
We head home tomorrow...will probably go to Winnemucca and stay the night. We have to get home on Saturday so Jim can watch the BSU vs Oregon game. Isn't it funny how football can totally rule your life? And he says he doesn't even like BSU!! We also have to get home for my nephew, Nathan Munson's, mission report! He has an incredible mission, so I'm excited to hear what he has to say.
That's all for now - K

Take My Poll!

So I'm just wondering what you all think we will have.....in regards to the baby that is.....a boy, a girl, or maybe a puppy :)
Oh, we actually are having puppies again, so if you want one.....

Day 3 - Grapes, Hippies, and Redwoods!

Today we didn't have much of a plan, just knew we were headed North, probably to see the redwoods. On the way up the freeway we so so many MORE grapes. Jim just couldn't get over it. It was quite amazing.
Our first planned stop was in a town called Willits. We thought this was where the big tree that you could drive thru was, but that was wrong. So, I found out there was a museum we could at least go to, but it was closed on Mondays! So, we took some pictures and then walked around downtown for awhile. One thing we saw a lot of was hippies. We thought maybe this was one of those hippie friendly towns, and Jim could not stand it, so we got out of there.
On our way up the road, we kept seeing hippies everywhere. I saw a guy with dread-locks past his butt...never seen them that long before! A little further up the road, it got even better.....we turned the corner, and saw hundreds of hippie camps. Come to find out, there was some big Earthdance festival over the weekend, and the area was seriously crawling with the smelly folk. At least the solved the mystery of why there was hippies everywhere :)
A little further up the road, we found the correct town with the drive-thru redwood tree, Leggett. That was fun, we drove our car through the tree, visited with some other folks from Idaho, bought a few souvenirs, and then headed for the coast.
What came next was one heck of a tree covered, curvy, never-ending road. It was pretty, but driving it just about made Jim car sick! We were glad when it ended.
Lur next stop was Fort Bragg. That was kind of a cute old town. We found some good ice cream, and some great cookies there! By then, we were ready to head home. The ride home seemed like forever, but we finally made it.
Made some dinner, and made plans for tomorrows big adventure....San Francisco! We're planning on using public transportation, I'll let you know how that goes :)

California Adventure Begins - Days 1 & 2

About a month ago, Jim and I decided we should take one last vacation before "just the two of us" became "the three of us." So, we decided to take a vacation somewhere we had never been. It had to be somewhere we could drive, and some place where we could stay in our Trendwest resorts. We decided on Northern-ish California.
I didn't really care where we went, I was just excited to get away from work, and just be able to relax!
Day 1 - Saturday
We left Nampa around....11:30 I think it was. Not a real early start, but we were only planning on getting to Reno which we thought would take about 8 hours. It only took about 6 hours, and since most all of the motel rooms were booked up due to some big Air Race event, we kept going and ended up in Auburn, CA. Nice little place I guess.
Day 2 - Sunday
We couldn't check into our resort until 4:00 pm, so we were in no hurry to get up and on our way. We had a lovely breakfast at Denny's, and then headed out at about 10:00. We had quite the drive, twisting and turning, up and down over a some big mountains and through a gazillion vineyards. Who knew there was that many grapes in the world, let alone just in one little part of California.
We got to our resort in Windsor at about 2:30 and asked if we could check in early. Yes, they said. Great, we THOUGH! When I opened the door to "our" room, there was already someone there. That made Jim really mad! (Imagine that!) So we wait about 45 minutes until we could get into our actual room. Which, may I say, has a lovely view of the pool area. We just took it easy for the rest of the night, barbequed steaks, and enjoyed the cable TV!!!

Must.......stop......eating!

I had my four month check up last week, and the only thing I really got out of it is that I gained WAY too much weight last month. I'm not going to say exactly how much it was, but it was three times what I gained in the first three months combined (which actually wasn't that much.) No wonder my pants don't fit anymore :) I'm a little ahead of schedule on the weight-gain thing, guess I better quit eating at Taco Bell so much!

Another pregnancy fact about me.....I've also started to get a little bit of heartburn, which is new for me, don't think I ever had it pre-pregnancy. It's not real fun. I'm not real fond of it. And here's something you'd probably rather not know about me ----- I've had my first experiences with losing control of my bladder while sneezing. I thought it was kind of funny the first time it happened, but every time since then it makes me quite upset. Nothing should cause a person to lose control of their bladder! I'm learning how to deal with it though.

THE BEST NEWS THOUGH.....I'm having my next ultrasound on September 25th and we'll find out what this baby is. (It's gonna be a girl though!)

Monday, August 18, 2008

Yikes!

I just want to say that some of my pants don't fit anymore! Yikes! It's so strange :) I think I'm gonna go buy one of those extender things so that I can keep wearing the pants I have. I will not buy maternity yet :)

Why do I hate this blog?

OK, so this is one of my least favorite things about being pregnant: Some things that I used to love (like posting on this blog, and adding to my play-list) are now, hmm, what word do I use.....almost repulsive? Did that happen to any of you girls when you were pregnant? I don't like it! I want it to go away! I'm sure it will some day. Anyway, that' s why you haven't see much from me. I can barely stand to look at this blog, let alone add to it. The only reason I look at it is so that I can link to all of your wonderful blogs and keep updated.

Other than that, being PG hasn't been too bad yet. I haven't lost my cookies yet, though I feel like it quite often. I'm super tired sometimes, although that is getting better. And, I DO NOT WANT TO CLEAN MY HOUSE. I guess that's not really due to being pregnant, but it's a good excuse, right? I finally had to tell myself that I must clean my house, and I must make dinner, and I must do a lot of things just for my poor husband. Ick! What's my deal?

I'm three months now! I can't believe I'm that far already. One more month and I, oops I mean we, can find out what it is. The Chinese Birth calendar says it's a girl, and that's what I want, but a boy would be fine too. Just as long as it's healthy and happy. No grumpy baby please :)

I guess that's all I can stand for now. At least it's something! Love to all - K

FINALLY!

OK, so most of you probably already know, but just in case......WE'RE HAVING A BABY....FINALLY!
I have so much more to say...it's been forever since I posted...but that is the important part for now. Right?

Anniversary Dinner!

For our 6th Wedding Anniversary Jim took me to this restraunt (I do NOT know how to spell that word!!) that I have wanted to go to for years. It's a fondue place in Nampa called the Mona Lisa. After years of begging he finally gave in. We probably shouldn't have, it wasn't cheap, but it was so much fun. It took us two hours to get it all down, but that was okay cause we had plenty of time.
Let me tell you what we had.....
~Salads
~Cheese fondue - with bread, vegetables, and fruit to dip
~Meat, meat, and more meat - we got to cook it on this little grill all by ourselves
and then....
The mother of all desserts!!
We both had our own pot of chocolate - Jim had milk chocolate-caramel and I had dark chocolate with almond flavoring. To dip in it we had....cheese cake, brownies, lady fingers, pound cake, macaroons, banana bread, pretzels, marshmellows, strawberries, bananas, and apples.....It seems like I'm forgetting something.
I was so stuffed by the time dessert came that I didn't really enjoy it that much, but you better believe I ate it! It was amazing. I'd like to go back sometime just for dessert!
WOW!!!! What an experience! YUM YUM!
Oh, and then we went to see the Incredible Hulk with our friends. Not my favorite movie in the world, but I guess it was ok.

Six Years and He's Still the One!

Can you believe Jim and I have been married for six years? I can't! It had gone by so fast, and the more I think about it, I honestly don't know where the time has gone. I do know that I am married to one heck of a GREAT GUY! We may have out moments, but overall we get along pretty dang well. He spoils me to death (well at least more than he should), does my chores when I conveniently put them off, and ALMOST ALWAYS gives in to my hints and beggings.
I love you HONEY! Thanks for EVERYTHING you do!

Wow Mark!

Wow, look at my brother! If you are a water skiier, you can appreciate these pictures. Especially if you know his age. Not saying he's an old man, but he's no spring chicken :) I don't know too many details about this tournament, but it looks like he was doing a good job.... he says he didn't though.
All I know is that I would LOVE to be able to ski like this, or even 50% of this. I'm pretty proud to have a brother that can ski like this. Way to go, Mark!

Surfs Up!

Sorry, another trip to the lake. However, this one brought a new adventure......surfing, and a beautiful sunset.

Our friends were demo-ing(?) a surf board from the boat shop. No, not the kind you use on the ocean, but one you use behind the ski boat on the wake. Jim really liked it, and though he is yet to perfect it, he seemed to really enjoy it.

I did not partake in water this night, it was just a little too cold for me. I'm regretting it now because the water was great for skiing, and I'm sure I would have gotten used to it in a hurry.

We did stay out late enough to see a beautiful sunset. Jim caught a couple of pictures of it so I have shared one. And of course, there is another cute picture of our buddy Teigan.

Can't wait for next time :)

Happy Birthday, Jim!

Yesterday, June 1st, was my hubby's 35th birthday! He doesn't really like celebrating, but I always like to do SOMETHING for him. We went out to dinner with some friends on Saturday night, and then had a little Cake and Ice Cream party at our house last night. It was fun to have everyone over, and Jim was a good sport.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM!
I LOVE YOU!
I just have to share a card with you that our friends, the Birds...the ones we go to the lake with, gave to Jim. I hope it doesn't offend anyone, or make you think less of me.
A Poem for Your Birthday
"All About Farts"
A far can be quiet, a fart can be loud,
Some leave a powerful, poisonous cloud....
A fart can be short, or a fart can be long,
Some farts have been know to sound just like a song....
A fart can create a most curious medley,
A fart can be harmless, or silent, but deadly....
A fart might not smell, while others are vile,
a fart may pass quickly, or linger awhile...
A fart can occur in a number of places,
And leave everyone with strange looks on their faces...
From wide-open prairie, to small elevators,
A fart will find all of us sooner or later...
But not all farts are bad, this is simply not true-
We musn't forget...
DEAR, SWEET, OLD FARTS LIKE YOU!
Now you can't tell me you didn't laugh a little bit :)

Memorial Day Activities!

As you can see, we went to the cabin for our Memorial Day Weekend. We knew there was lots of work to be done, plus wanted to get out of town again.

Friday night we got there and got the plumbing done, well at least Jim got the plumbing done. I was good moral support though.

Saturday morning, we got up and had a great "mountain" breakfast, and then got to work. We raked all the pine needles off of the lawn, and then Jim mowed and fertilized it. We finished un-winterizing the cabin, and various other little things around the place. Later that day, we went up the road to Baumgartners Hot Springs to soak in the pool.

Jim took tons of pictures of the Hummingbirds, some of which I have included. There were a bunch of them around this weekend. In one of the pictures, you can see three . There was one time that there were five buzzing around, but I couldn't get them all in a picture.

We saw lots of wildlife, deer mostly. There are a few pics of them as well.

Sunday we took it easy, and just took a nice drive into some areas we hadn't been before. The dogs enjoyed the ride in the back of the truck, except for when the hail started. Gunner didn't seem to mind, but Daisy wasn't too excited about it.

Monday we got up and finished the last of the chores and started cleaning so we could go home. We got home about 4:00, leaving Jim plenty of time to mow the lawn, and me to get some laundry done.

It was a great weekend, and we really enjoyed being in the mountains again.

Water Ski Trip

We've been to the lake several times already this year, but last weekend was the first time it was actually warm enough for me to get in the water. Therefore, it was my first attempt at waterskiing. I am happy to say that I got up on my second try (the first time was the drivers fault!), and two more times after that. The water was kind of rough, so skiing wasn't really that much fun, but it's good to have the "first-time" out of the way.
Thanks to our friends, the Birds, for always taking us with them. If it weren't for them, we'd probably never get to go.
P.S. Please don't notice my wonderful fashion statement.....purple life-jacket, brown shorts, and a red swimming suit....lovely, isn't it?

Who Done It?

Last night, Jim and I were in our front room watching a movie - actually we were both asleep. At about 11:30 the door bell rings and scares the you-know-what out of me. Belll rings or door knocks at this time of night can only mean two things at our house......1) It's the police trying to find out who is harassing our crazy neighbors, or 2) It's scary people wanting to use our phone because their car broke down on the way to the drug-dealer neighbors house, and the drug-dealers won't answer their door.
Needless to say, I made Jim answer the door. He looks out, shuts the door, and says "It's for you." He wouldn't tell me what was waiting for for me, but this is what I found.....a Heart-Attack!! If you can't tell, there are construction paper hearts and "confetti" all over the house, and our driveway & walkway.
A few minutes later (over the noise of the John Wayne movie) I can hear a cell phone vibrating. I figured it was Jim's phone, and that he had missed a text from his buddy, but it was actually me! Whoever my "attackers" were had left me a creep message from a restricted phone number. The voice was "changed" and it said something like... "Sister Solosabal, I saw you watching TV on your couch. Hope you like your house...."
By now, my mind is buzzing, wondering who it could have been. Actually, I think I know exactly who it was, but I'm not going to name them. Let's just say it was probably one of my awesome young women (and probably a few accomplices (sp?) letting me know that I am loved.
Thanks whoever you are. I feel VERY loved!
NOW I HAVE TO GO CLEAN IT UP :)

Baby Chloe

When we sold our puppies we told the new owners that we would love for them to send us pictures of the puppies so that we can see how our dogs turn out. Here is the first one we have received.....I guess you could say she is our "grand-puppy!" Her name is Chloe and a lady that Jim works with bought her. It's not a very big picture, but I couldn't get it bigger and make it still look good. I think she is pretty cute anyway!

First Weekend at the Cabin!

We've been waiting months to go to the cabin, and we finally got to this past weekend. We were hoping to be able to do a little yard work, and get the yard cleaned up a bit, but there was still too much snow on the lawn. Still, it was so nice to be up there, away from town, and the worries of the world.

We got there about 9:00 pm on Friday night. All appeared to be well until we tried to turn the water on. Someone had forgotten to cover the main valve with insulation, so......it had frozen and we couldn't turn it on or it would leak in the crawl. Luckily we could get water out of the outside faucets, so could at least flush the toilets and cook some. Jim called his dad that night and convinced them to bring up the needed repair supplies on Saturday. They got it fixed and we able to enjoy the rest of the weekend with free flowing water. It's amazing how no water can cramp your style!

We couldn't do much yard work, but were able to clean up the inside a bit. We were surprised at how clean things were. Usually after months of nobody being there, it is quite a mess. Somehow, the mice were stopped, so no little droppings everywhere to clean up. Just dead flies in the windowsills. Nothing that a vacume can't take care of.

We did encounter one problem that the snow caused....the wood stove was smoking so bad and we couldn't get a decent fire going! Jim's dad finally decided that they should run the brush down the chimney pipe. (Think Burt in Mary Poppins!) Sunday morning he and Jim climbed on top of the cabin and cleaned out the pipe. It seemed to do the trick, and the fires were back to normal.

The dogs had a grand time, running, and playing, and fetching.......that Daisy, she's always fetching, or at least wanting to. They played so hard that they've been napping ever since we got home today. That's one thing I love about taking them to the cabin or the ranch, they sleep for a couple of days after we get home!

We had a great time and can't wait to go back. We are hoping that in a few weeks the snow will be gone and we can rake all the pine needles off the lawn and get some fertilizer on the it. Summer is a comin!
